Dr. Lyndell Kelly
Trustee

Lyndell Kelly moved to Dunedin in 2005 after a distinguished 22-year career as an Oncologist at the Royal Brisbane Hospital. During this time, she also completed a PhD in Pathology, undertaken part-time over nine years.

After relocating to Dunedin, Lyndell spent 16 years at Dunedin Hospital, where she specialised in the treatment of brain tumours and head and neck cancers. Her work was characterised by a commitment to patient care, research-informed practice, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. In 2019, she was elected to the Southern District Health Board, where she was a strong advocate for service improvements and equitable access to healthcare across the region.

Now retired from clinical work, Lyndell enjoys having more time for cooking, reading, and other interests that her medical career once limited. She remains dedicated to contributing to her community, and her involvement with The Healthcare Otago Charitable Trust provides a valuable avenue for that continued service.

Lyndell brings a wide and deeply informed health perspective to the Trust’s consideration of grant and research requests, ensuring decisions are guided by both clinical insight and compassion for community wellbeing.
